“Way of the Warrior” is another fighting game for the Panasonic 3DO that features digitized characters. The emergence of such a large number of fighting games with digitized characters may have been influenced not only by the wild popularity of the Mortal Kombat game but also by the fact that digitizing characters is much quicker than animating all their movements, as seen in games like Samurai Shodown or Street Fighter. In “Way of the Warrior,” there are nine different colored characters, excluding the hidden ones that can be unlocked using a special code. We must choose one of the characters to fight against all represented opponents, including the so-called bosses like the dragon leader High Abbot and the skeleton Kull. And all this is to be recorded in the “Book of Warriors.”
