**Snow Brothers 3: Magical Adventure** is an action game developed by Syrmex Electronics and released for arcade machines in 2002.
**Overview**
The game is a comprehensive hack of the original **Snow Bros.**, which was released by Toaplan in 1990. In this hack, you will play as generic characters who love football: Player 1 wears the national team jersey of Mexico, while Player 2 wears the jersey of the national team of South Korea. There isn’t a specific storyline different from the original game, but the gameplay remains largely the same.
**Trivia**
In addition to Toaplan shutting down in 1994, many people went on to establish their own companies, such as Raizing/Eighting, Cave, Takumi, and Gazelle. However, because **Snow Bros.** has very addictive gameplay, the game was preloaded in its original form by various companies worldwide. Many companies like SunA and SemiCom started running their games on hardware similar to **Snow Bros.**, sometimes becoming exclusive from Asia (particularly from South Korea and China). However, in countries with rampant piracy like many in Latin America, a company from Mexico called Syrmex Electronics developed its own hack of **Snow Bros.**, initially called **Snow Brothers 3: Prehistoric Adventure**. But with the arrival of the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Japan and South Korea, they changed the name to **Snow Brothers 3: Magical Adventure** and released it to promote the event. This is why the characters turn enemies into footballs instead of snowballs. The game quickly became popular in Mexico as the country rarely made games on its own.
The game contains recycled assets from various other games and even wallpapers from the Internet. For example:
– In the background of Stage 20, there is a Spawn wallpaper where the player fights the second boss.
– The third boss in Stage 30 features Cacodemons from **Doom** and **Doom II: Hell on Earth**, which spit out fish instead of birds.
– In Stage 40, there is a Ghost Rider wallpaper in the background.
– The Game Over screen contains a skull within a star halo.
– Finally, there is a group of women in lingerie, likely taken from an adult website.
**Snow Brothers 3: Magical Adventure** features original music, but the music is played through a PCM sound chip instead of the FM sound chip YM3812 used in the original game. However, the music used comes from MIDI files and is converted from the game’s sound chip format.
There is a title screen hack of a game called **Ball Boy**, and there is no developer or publisher listed on the screen.
